DCG facilitates new partner programmes with
the University of Management and Technology in Lahore (Pakistan)
Due to its longterm experience in the international education exchange, the DCG was contacted some months ago to facilitate the development of similar projects between German and Pakistan higher education partners. As a result of these activities new partnership programmes are now developed between the University of Management and Technology in Lahore and three of our German university partners:
→ Anhalt University of Applied Sciences
MBA International Trade
Master Online Kommunikation
Master Logistics und Air Traffic Management
→ Leipzig University of Applied Sciences (HTWK Leizig)
Master Structural Engineering
→ Zittau Goerlitz University of Applied Sciences
Master Mechatronics
DCG believes to made a very good choice. The UMT represents one of the best universities in Pakistan. In total, it offers 110 programmes in the area of Bachelor, Master and PhD level. The UMT welcomes the partnership with German universities a lot and has also several professors / teachers who studied in Germany. In the coming year, the UMT also plans to open a German language center.
During a one-week visit of Prof. Dr. Shirwani in Germany, we had meetings with all partner universities and signed the partner contracts for the before-mentioned study programs and visited as well the training centers of the Chamber of Crafts and Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Halle as well as the Deutsch-Uni Online in Munich.
During this week we also met with Dr. Karamba Diaby, Member of the German Parliament and, inter alia, responsible for international education affairs, in which we discussed academic and economic issues. Dr. Diaby assured his full support to strenghten the relationships between Pakistan and Germany, especially through the setup of academic partnerships.

Next to the already mentioned partner programmes, it is also planned to start with the Master Metallic Materials Technology of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg.
In the planned master courses, participants study one year in accordance with the German curriculum at the UMT and absolve the second year at the German university. Through this, the time and the respective cost for living are reduced to one year instead of normally two for a master's programme.
After the first english-speaking master courses, bachelor's programmes in German shall be offered in the second step. In these 2+2 programmes, participants absolve the first year oft he German curriculum next to 1,600 hours of German language training at the UMT and finalize their studies in Germany, where they do the last two years of the German curriculum.
It is our goal that one day, we might also offer the same model as we do with the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Ghana: to realize a German Degree 100% abroad in Pakistan.
