Anhalt MBA International Trade - Alumni event held
at Ghana Technology University College (Accra) at 24.11.2018
Since 2013 the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences (Germany) is doing a common education project with the Ghana Technology University College. Executive students from Ghana, and also neighbouring countries, are studying besides their jobs in the international master's programme "MBA International Trade" of the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences at the GTUC campus in Accra and receive a German master's degree at the end. Since our start in the winter semester 2013 we have enrolled 156 students whereof already 80 were able to finish their studies and receive their master's degree.
This is the first project of this kind of a German university in Ghana, and West-Africa respectively, in which African students will receive a German university degree in their home country without leaving it.

It is a major concern that students of the MBA International Trade, who themselves often work in medium to high management positions in their companies, have a strong reference to practice-relevant topics during their studies. This is one reason why we are working together with international companies located in Ghana in some of our modules. For example, our students analysed the value chains of Amodelta and Kasapreko Ltd. during their Corporate Project Management module and compiled proposals for improvements. They also analysed the market for the German company Symrise AG and made recommendations for market positioning and respective marketing strategies.
It is our aim to increase the links between students and representatives of the German and Ghanaian economy. For this reason, we organised an event this year to which we have invited not only our students/alumni but also representatives of companies in Ghana.
The event started on 24th of November at 5pm with our Guest Speaker Prof. Dr. Markus Holz (Hon Prof. at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences) followed by a plenary discussion in which Princewill O Omorogiuwa (CEO Simon Page College of Marketing) and Dr. Ebenezer Malcalm (Dean Graduate School of GTUC) participated. They discussed about the “African Economic Development – the status quo and outlook using the example of Ghana”. Education, especially market needs oriented programmes was seen as a major lever to development. GTUC is on a good way to do its part to support that goal.
During the following networking part, former graduates were able to mix and mingle with representatives of the faculty and industry and also to meet old friends.
